A Kansas woman who was seen in video being dragged from a home in what authorities called a possible abduction has been found safe and largely unharmed. Wichita police say they believe the incident, which occurred early Sunday, was a case of potential domestic violence in which the woman was attacked by her boyfriend.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and faces several charges, including aggravated battery with strangulation, two counts of domestic battery, and criminal restraint. The District Attorney will decide whether to file formal charges.

The woman contacted police Tuesday afternoon and spoke with investigators. Later that evening, officers from Wichita’s Domestic Intervention and Violence Reduction unit tracked down the suspect and took him into custody. Earlier, police had released security video showing a man grabbing the woman from behind and pulling her down a driveway, with the woman heard screaming.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Volutsia; authorities said the woman lives nearby. A homeowner reported the video after noticing it on her security system, though she did not recognize the woman and usually doesn’t check the footage.

Crime Stoppers had offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the woman’s identity, and police asked for help from regional and federal agencies. Authorities thanked the public for sharing the video, which helped prompt the woman to contact them.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or visit thehotline.org for resources and support. Many states also have their own hotlines.
